The PRIGO College is one of the biggest and most successful colleges in the Czech Republic, the central part of Europe. It participates in a number of projects within the country and abroad, while the courses provided range from humanities and pedagogy to medical and natural sciences. Upon graduation, its students receive the DiS degree (i.e. “certified specialist”). Having its headquarters in Ostrava, the third populous city in the country, the College is close to the neighbouring Poland and Slovakia. Apart from Ostrava, it operates in three other cities: Havířov, Bruntál and Nový Jičín. It also cooperates with its affiliated PRIGO College Olomouc.
The College is a part of the PRIGO Group of Schools, which has an irreplaceable position at all levels of the educational system, starting with pre-school education and ending with university and third age university education. It is based on the application of the unique, trade-mark protected PriorityGO approach, which combines individualised teaching, modern didactic methods and respect for the challenges of contemporary society whereby education is seen as a lifelong philosophy and a continuous approach to life, not as a means to achieve other goals.
The College focuses on the development of factual competences suited for practice and the acquisition of foreign language skills as well as on cooperation with foreign universities and other institutions at the international level. One of PRIGO’s main goals is to work with exceptionally gifted students which is why its university centre CEMNAS searches for gifted children and youths, helping them succeed in their studies both home and abroad. The College provides education in many subject areas, including legal, economic, teacher-training and medical ones. Professional management study programmes should be mentioned, too (BBA, MBA, MPA, DBA and LL.M. programmes). The College cooperates with over twenty foreign schools from the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Slovakia, USA and China, and participates in many projects, especially those financed from the EU funds.
At present time, the College offers education in the following study programmes: Pre-school and Extra-curricular Pedagogy, General Legal Activity, Registered Paediatric Nurse, Registered General Nurse and Veterinary Medicine.
